Dynasty Manager 101 FAQ
(Go back to resources)

What exactly is Dynasty Manager? How do you actually update everything so quick? I don't know HTML--can I still be a part of DM? All these questions and more are answered in this brief summary of Dynasty Manager.

There is no true way to define DM, although the easiest and simplist is this: Dynasty Manager is a site for fans of all sports [NFL, NCAA, NBA, MLB, NASCAR, MLS, PGA] to write about what happens in their sports video games. The easiest way to do this is to start playing your favorite sports video game, and play a game. After the game, open up Microsoft Word (or Word Pad) and type up a report of what just happened. It's just that simple!

I've looked at some pages, and they are very "packed". I want my page to be simple, is that even possible?

Yes! The best part about DM is the ability to go in-depth or no-depth. If you would like, all that could be shown on your page could just be a basic standings table and your Lead Story article. But then again, if you want your readers to know just about everything you know, it's all possible. Just play around with the settings on your DM Admin Page.

How do I get people to comment on my page? I always write articles, but no one leaves me comments.

It's easy to feel discouraged sometimes, because there are so many updates everyday. The best way to get people to view your page is to be active in the forums. Make sure to include a link to your page[s] in your signature, by way of a signature picture, or a logo that links to your page. This can be done by HTML. Also, email the Admin with the information he wants [check the main page] and get a guestbook. How do you use a guestbook? Everytime you write an article, post in your guestbook, like this.

What the heck is HTML? Where can I figure it out?

DM 101 is just the place for you! Don't worry--those orange traffic cones have directed you to the right place. HTML is an internet series of codes that creates web pages. Dynasty Manager uses HTML, but you do not have to create entire web pages, just work with text and tables.

Most users on DM know at least a smidge of HTML. Don't be afraid to ask other users on the forums or by e-mail questions about HTML. We were all new at it at sometime or another.

If your "friends" can't figure it out, there are some web resources that are helpful, such as webmonkey.com and pageresource.com. These sites are very informative. Remember--it's a long and lonely road to learning HTML--so get to it!

Are there any awards for Best Page on DM or something?

Yes, there is, and it's called the DMies. They are not run by the Admin, but rather by the people--for the people! The Official DMies thread for 2005 can be found here.
